Advice Disclosure.
Who we are, how we work, how we are paid, and what to do if something goes wrong.
This is the disclosure statement Digital KiwiSaver Advice gives you. The rest of findmyfund.co.nz is research, not advice, and our Terms of Service cover it. No provider can pay for a place in its rankings.
Who we are
Find My Fund Limited (FSP1012986) is licensed by the Financial Markets Authority to provide a financial advice service. Our advice is generated digitally, and our financial adviser, Hugo Kidd, is available if you would rather talk to a person.
The advice we give
We give personalised advice on KiwiSaver only: which fund suits you, and what you contribute to it.
We do not advise on insurance, mortgages or lending, budgeting and debt, tax, wills or estate planning, or investments outside KiwiSaver. If you need one of those, we will say so.
How we work
- We analyse every KiwiSaver fund on the market, 395 funds from every provider, using published data and our own research methodology: returns over time, risk, fees and each fund’s track record.
- We recommend from the funds that meet our criteria. Today that is 127 funds across 24 providers. A fund that does not meet them may still be a good fund; it is not one we can stand behind as a recommendation.
- Your recommendation is matched to you: your risk profile, how long until you need the money, and what you told us matters to you.
- It is data-driven and consistent. The same analysis is applied to everyone, and nobody edits the result.
- We advise you whichever provider is best for you, including providers we have no commercial agreement with.
Your advice is built on your answers
Your recommendation is personal because it is built from what you tell us, so it is worth taking a moment to get your answers right.
Projections show what could happen on stated assumptions. They are estimates, not promises: returns are not guaranteed, and past returns do not predict future ones.
Your advice is given at a point in time. If something changes, such as your income, your plans or a first home, you can ask us to look again from your account, at any time and at no cost.
Talking to a person
You can ask to speak to our financial adviser at any time, at no cost and for any reason. Our adviser advises on KiwiSaver only. Email hello@findmyfund.co.nz.
How we get paid
Our advice is free to you. There is no fee for the advice or for switching. You still pay your KiwiSaver fund’s own fees, as you do now; the provider’s Product Disclosure Statement sets them out.
Some KiwiSaver providers pay us when you join one of their funds through us. That can be a one-off payment when you join, an ongoing payment for as long as you stay in that fund, or both. It comes out of the provider’s own revenue, not out of your account, so nothing is deducted from your balance and nothing is added to the fees you pay.
The providers we have an agreement with are Booster, Fisher Funds, Generate, Milford, Pathfinder, Pie Funds and QuayStreet. This list can change, and this statement is updated when it does.
We are paid when you move to a provider that has an agreement with us. If we recommend you stay with one of those providers and you name us as your adviser on that account, they may pay us an ongoing commission, and you have someone to come to for advice. Your fees are the same either way. If your fund is with a provider that does not pay us, we receive nothing. What a provider pays differs from one provider to another.
Managing conflicts of interest
Being paid by some providers is a conflict of interest. This is how we manage it:
- What a provider pays us is never part of the recommendation. Our analysis holds no commission figure and cannot see one.
- Every fund is assessed on the same criteria, whether or not its provider pays us, and funds from providers that pay us nothing are among the ones we recommend.
- We review our recommendations regularly to check they follow the analysis and not the payments.
Our duties to you
The law requires us to:
- give priority to your interests, ahead of our own
- exercise care, diligence and skill
- meet the standards of competence, knowledge and skill in the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services
- meet the standards of ethical behaviour, conduct and client care in that Code
